Until now, I felt like I’ve been missing something. Searching for a way to express my love and passion for the real estate business has been on my mind for years. Be it sharing stories from behind the scenes, lessons I’ve learned, major accomplishments for me and my clients, or the nitty-gritty need to know of being a real estate broker, I’ve never had a place or platform to collect my thoughts.
New ideas come and go, but nothing ever stuck, nothing captured me to the point I felt ‘this is it.’ I’ve been a writer on a personal level since I can remember, not the formal, perfect, grammatically correct type - that’s my twin sister, who loves Excel - more so the journal your thoughts type. Initially, I journaled in notebooks, this was around middle school into high school, and the horrors of going through those still exist in my mind – I recycled them last year. At some point in high school, I started journaling on the computer and that continued into my adult life. If you receive my yearly holiday cards or one of the few letters I’ve sent out over the years (another idea that didn’t stick), you’ve got a glimpse into this part of me.
A storyteller at heart, my mom would say ‘You take after your dad,’ I’ve dreamt of being a writer on and off all my life. But it wasn’t until a conversation I had with my boyfriend in February shifted my entire view on what I’ve been doing to express this passion and what I must do going forward. To him, I owe this idea.
Sitting at my desk in my home office I can’t help but feel like I’m late. As I begin my 10th year in the real estate industry, the sheer number of stories I have packed into this brain is outright overwhelming. I’ve experienced highs, lows, and all the madness that comes with being self-employed, if you know, you know. And boy, it’s been beautiful. So, bear with me as I pull from my history books, sharing stories both new and old, with no one goal in mind, but to finally allow my passion to bring me purpose.
I vow to make you think, share stories that will bring tears to your eyes, pull the curtain back from this ‘sexy’ industry, teach important aspects of the business, and well, brag on occasion. As the blog progresses, I hope you’ll share your thoughts with me, share the blog with others, and continue with me on this journey. No number of words can express the anticipation inside of me, I’m ready.
With love,
Amanda
